The Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty adopted on 2 February 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar, on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea. Thus, though nowadays the name of the Convention is usually written "Convention on Wetlands(Ramsar, Iran, 1971) ", it has come to be known popularly as the "Ramsar Convention"... The official name of the treaty-The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat-reflects its original emphasis on the conservation and wise use of wetlands primarily to provide habitat for waterbirds. Over the years, however, the Convention has broadened its scope to cover all aspects of wetland conservation and wise use, recognizing wetlands as ecosystems that are extremely important for biodiversity conservation in general and for the well-being of human communities. For this reason, the increasingly common use of the short form of the treaty's title, the "Convention on Wetlands", is entirely appropriate. The Convention entered into force in 1975... UNESCO serves as Depositary for the Convention, but its administration has been entrusted to a secretariat known as the "Ramsar Bureau", which is housed in the headquarters of IUCN-The World Conservation Union in Gland, Switzerland, under the authority of the Conference of the Parties and the Standing Committee of the Convention 1, record 13, English, - Convention%20on%20Wetlands%20of%20International%20Importance%20especially%20as%20Waterfowl%20Habitat

1, record 13, Spanish, - Convenci%C3%B3n%20relativa%20a%20los%20Humedales%20de%20Importancia%20Internacional%2C%20especialmente%20como%20H%C3%A1bitat%20de%20Aves%20Acu%C3%A1ticas

SPPs... are contracts under which the employer, alone or in conjunction with the employee, makes contributions to provide the employee with a retirement income and other benefits(death and sometimes disability). As a general rule, funds accumulated by the employee are locked-in(or "frozen") until retirement and can only be used as retirement income. 7, record 16, French, - r%C3%A9gime%20compl%C3%A9mentaire%20de%20retraite

Havana Charter was the charter of the defunct International Trade Organization(ITO). It was signed by 53 countries on March 24, 1948. It allowed for international cooperation and rules against anti-competitive business practices. The charter ultimately failed because the Congress of the United States rejected it. Elements of it would later become part of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade(GATT). The charter, proposed by John Maynard Keynes, was to establish the ITO and a financial institution called the International Clearing Union(ICU), and an international currency; the bancor. The Havana Charter institutions were to stabilize trade by encouraging nations to "net zero", with trade surplus and trade deficit both discouraged. This negative feedback was to be accomplished by allowing nations overdraft equal to half the average value of the country's trade over the preceding five years, with interest charged on both surplus and deficit. 2, record 20, English, - Havana%20Charter

IUCH is an international non-governmental organization, with members, adhering bodies and affiliates throughout the circumpolar regions. There has been a long-standing need for the exchange of medical knowledge, as well as the results of recent research and demonstrated solutions to problems for the benefit of humankind. Arctic communities, with the general and specific medical and health problems found in this region, obviously share this need with the rest of the world. The health problems and needs of northern peoples has become the focus of the only organization of its kind dedicated to the health problems of the circumpolar regions — the International Union for Circumpolar Health. 1, record 22, English, - International%20Union%20for%20Circumpolar%20Health

The first world championship in our sport was organized in 1987 in France, and eight national shooting federations founded the "Union Internationale des Federations et Associations Nationales de Tir" on 7th July 1907 in Zurich, Switzerland... The French title of the "International Union of National Federations and Associations of Shooting" started to use the initials, UIT. This union was dissolved in 1915 during World War I but was reorganized in 1921 under the new name of "Union Internationale de Tir", also using the initials, UIT. After World War II had started, the activities of the Union were again suspended and then reorganized in 1947 under the new name, "International Shooting Union", using the title in the English language which from then on was decided to be the official working language of the organization. The initials of the International Shooting Union would have been ISU, but our organization had to continue using the letters of its French title, UIT, in order not to confuse it with the initials used in the international sport world by the International Skating Union... The change of the title "Union" to International Shooting Sport Federation(ISSF) in order to conform to almost all the other sporting organisations was officially approved at the General Assembly in Barcelona, Spain on 15th July 1998. 2, record 27, English, - International%20Shooting%20Sport%20Federation

Is the HSB a special case? Is it possible to generalise the analysis of the HSB movement and to extend it to other organisations, or is this housing co-operative federation a very special case? It is the contention of this paper that the results are of general interest and with relevance for a wide range of organisations, especially those within the non-profit and voluntary sectors. Of course, it is not possible to, within the limits of this paper, to prove this. However, some indications in favour of this position will be put forward. This circumstantial evidence concern three other Swedish organisations-one a formally non-profit building company, one fund which collects money in order to support research for a cure against cancer, the third being the Union for asthmatics and allergics. 1, record 35, English, - non%2Dprofit%20building%20company

Environmental protection is accepted as needed in the Czech Republic, but the degree of implementation depends on possibilities of investing into new technologies and desirable activities. The main problem is a lack of financial streams. The Czech Republic is in general tackling the same problems as the industrially advanced countries were one or two decades ago. It seems, however that it will have much less time to eliminate them in view of the expected date of entry into the European Union. 1, record 39, English, - financial%20stream

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. The holiday was first proclaimed on 5 May 1868, by General John Logan in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers. The South refused to acknowledge Decoration Day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I. It is now celebrated in almost every state on the last Monday in May. 2, record 48, English, - Memorial%20Day
