Advantages and disadvantages of certain materials. Whipcord is made for laborers, postmen, milkmen, and such and will not get wet with the first raindrops. Corduroy, on the other hand, soaks up moisture too easily and is not very durable. Wool will remain warm even when drenched and is the best answer for outdoor wear. You may consider lederhosen, leather pants imported from the Alps. The knicker length variety, though expensive, are a good investment because rocks will not tear them. Non-waterproof nylon wind pants are useful to wear over other trousers in windy, frigid areas and when climbing extensively above timberline. Wind pants should be loose-fitting and have a drawstring around the ankles to prevent wind from blowing up the legs. Rain pants in waterproof fabric are of some value in wet, brushy areas, but in general the lack of ventilation makes these pants unsatisfactory. A light pair of cotton pants may be used as extras for hot weather, but are no substitute for wool pants in cold weather. 7, record 5, English, - climbing%20pants

NDHQ 97 is the largest accommodation project ever undertaken by the Department of National Defence or the government. It's more than just moving people from building to building. It's refitting buildings and general office space, using a new design concept called the universal footprint. It's adapting accommodation to re-engineered organizations. It's also purchasing and installing furniture best suited to a modern, dynamic organization. The headquarters will have a new look. In the four buildings... corridors will run along the windows. Offices will be clustered at the centre of each floor. Major traffic will flow outside work areas, not through them. People working in teams will have work areas designed for teams. Offices will have more natural light, better air conditioning and better ventilation. Some screens will have glazed windows to allow natural light to spill through. Each workstation will include large, well-lit work surfaces for computers and overall, will have more usable workspace. Plenty of storage space will be located above and below work surfaces. But employees will be encouraged to make the most of their space by storing information on diskette, rather than in filing cabinets. The look will be cleaner and less cluttered. And whether people are tall or short, they’ll be able to adjust their desks, chairs and computers to the height that's right for them. 3, record 8, English, - universal%20footprint

4, record 8, French, - plan%20universel

Determination of the airtightness of building envelopes by the fan depressurization method.... This is a method for the determination of the airtightness of building envelopes. It is not a method for determining the actual air leakage which occurs through a building envelope under the influence of wind and buoyancy pressures or the operation of heating and ventilation systems.... Principle. A fan or fans are used to exhaust air from the building at rates required to maintain specified pressure differences across the building envelope. The air flows and the pressure differences are measured. The intention is to subject the complete envelope to a simultaneous and similarly directed air pressure. The flows are corrected to reference temperature and reference pressure. The relationship between flow and pressure difference is used to calculate the equivalent leakage area of the building envelope.
