GLUCAGON-LIKE PEPTIDE-1 [3 records]

Record 1 2024-11-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Hormones
  • Biochemistry
CONT

The incretins are gastrointestinal polypeptide hormones that act to modulate insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. These hormones include glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory peptide(GIP), and they are secreted from the upper gastrointestinal tract in response to feeding.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Hormones
  • Biochimie
CONT

CONT

GLP-1(glucagon-like peptide-1) is a gut hormone which is released into the blood stream after feeding. Its main action is to stimulate insulin secretion through potentiating the insulinotropic action of glucose. The peptide is encoded in the glucagon gene and expressed mainly in the gut L cells.

  • Endocrine System and Metabolism
CONT

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) receptor agonists. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating. One role of GLP-1 is to prompt the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood glucose(sugar). GLP-1 in higher amounts also interacts with the parts of the brain that reduce appetite and signal a feeling of fullness.

  • Systèmes endocrinien et métabolique
CONT
