GLUCAN [6 records]

Record 1 2008-11-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Molecular Biology
CONT

The effects of mutastein, a glucosyltransferase inhibitor derived from an Aspergillus terreus strain, on the glucan synthesis by glucosyltransferases of Streptococcus mutans and sucrose-dependent adherence of S. mutans cells were examined in vitro.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biologie moléculaire
CONT

DEF

Amino acid nitrogen exclusive of proline (an imino acid), usable by yeasts, ammonia is not included.

CONT

Protease activity was determined by the measurement of free amino nitrogen (FAN) or the amount of tyrosine liberated (Folin’s method). [Source: ethanol project - Cmpdxwor.en p. 1].

CONT

Application of biological acidification to improve the quality, flavour and processability of beer produced with twenty percent raw barley.... A decoction mashing programme was applied to the pilot scale brews. Characteristics of the laboratory scale mashes and the pilot scale brews examined included mash pH, extract, colour, filterability, viscosity, total soluble nitrogen(TSN), free amino nitrogen(FAN), high molecular weight nitrogen(HMWN), fermentability, beta glucan, zinc, foam stability and sugar and amino-acid profiles.

CONT

CONT

Ready and colleagues have shown that unlike wheat, oat bran did not affect fecal concentrations of secondary bile acids and, in fact brought about an increase in both total and secodary bile acid excretion when fed to human subjects for 5 weeks. This could be due to inhibition of bile acid reasorbtion, ether through physical binding or because of the viscous nature of oat ß glucan which entraps bile acids in the small intestine.

CONT
