The co-immobilization of two enzymes should be capable of more complex conversions than are possible using a single enzyme. For instance, glucose oxidase and catalase have been co-immobilized so that the hydrogen peroxide produced by the glucose oxidase is degraded by the catalase before it can inactivate the glucose oxidase. 4, record 1, English, - co%2Dimmobilization

A test strip was produced by adsorbing the enzyme reagent, glucose oxidase, peroxidase and a chromogen, on to a paper(cellulose) pad. The pad containing the dried reagents is cemented to the end of a plastic strip and responds with a colour change when wetted with a solution containing glucose such as urine or blood. The development of test strips for the determination of glucose in whole blood and serum has made blood assay almost as simple as the detection of urine glucose. In this case the reagent pad is treated with ethyl cellulose which forms a membrane through which small molecules can readily diffuse, but the presence of the coating prevents cells from being adsorbed on the cellulose fibres and allows them to be washed away. 2, record 4, English, - test%20strip

For the synthesis of radioactive compounds enzymic syntheses are often faster and give higher yields of non-racemic products that most chemically catalysed reactions.... An important application is the use of co-immobilized glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase to iodinate proteins with125Iodine. In this method exposure of the protein to extreme oxidizing conditions is prevented by the addition of glucose such that the immobilized glucose oxidase generates H202, which is then used by the lactoperoxidase in the labelling reaction. This method is much more gentle than chemical iodination, so that denaturation of the protein and oxidation of amino acids is prevented. Also the reaction can be easily controlled since the immobilized enzymes can be rapidly removed and the reaction terminated by centrifugation or application to a gel filtration column.
