The inner surface of the stomach is lined by a mucous membrane known as the gastric mucosa. The mucosa is always covered by a layer of thick mucus that is secreted by tall columnar epithelial cells. Gastric mucus is a glycoprotein that serves two purposes : the lubrication of food masses in order to facilitate movement within the stomach and the formation of a protective layer over the lining epithelium of the stomach cavity. This protective layer is a defense mechanism the stomach has against being digested by its own protein-lyzing enzymes, and it is facilitated by the secretion of bicarbonate into the surface layer from the underlying mucosa. 3, record 6, English, - gastric%20mucosa

Contrôle antidopage. [L'EPO comme drogue augmentant l'endurance]. Contrôle anti-doping à Atlanta 96. [...]

2, record 24, French, - g%C3%A8ne%20enveloppe

2, record 26, French, - r%C3%A9cepteur%20CD4

Possible mechanisms for the interaction between native and split Cp components and the MFGM might include surface binding by physicochemical forces. This could involve either non-covalent hydrostatic interactions between polycationic proteins, such as C3a and C5a(15), or highly amphiphilic proteins such as C3b and terminal complement complexes-C5b-9(TCC), or through the attachment to specific receptors, such as C3R or C5aR. C3 fragments have the ability to bind to membrane surfaces in the vicinity of ongoing element activation, and thereby promote opsonization of particulate antigens and the generation of further C3/C5 convertase enzymes(17). While polycationic molecules like C5a, could have bound more avidly to one of the glycoprotein components of the MFGM, C3 fragments might have been bound to the lipid fraction of the membranes. 1, record 33, English, - polycationic

The coat of the HIV virion bears numerous viral proteins "spikes" that project into the external medium. Each spike probably consists of four molecules of a protein called gp120 on the outside and the same number of gp41 embedded in the membrane. These envelope proteins play a crucial role when HIV binds to, and enters target cells. Underneath the envelope is a layer of matrix protein called p17, which in turn surrounds the core, or capsid. (Each of) major histocompatibility antigens found on virtually every cell, human erythrocytes being the only notable exception; they are found on molecules consisting of two noncovalently bound chains. One on 44, 000-dalton polymorphic glycoprotein partially embedded in the cell membrane, is determined by an MHC gene(HLA-A,-B, or-C in humans) ;the other, [beta] 2-microglobulin, a 12, 000-dalton nonopolymorphic protein, is determined by a non-MHC gene. Class I antigens are the classic histocompatibility antigens recognized during graft rejection.... 3, record 38, English, - class%20I%20antigen
