Roundup Ready® plants produce the same natural proteins as any other plant with one notable exception. These plants make an additional protein which allows them to grow in the presence of Glyphosate, known commercially as "Roundup, "one of the most widely-used herbicides employed by back-yard gardeners, homeowners, golf courses and commercial farms for the past 25 years. The protein is not a toxin to plants, animals, insects, humans or bacteria. 2, record 2, English, - Roundup%20Ready%C2%AE%20plant

3, record 3, French, - g%C3%A8ne%20d%27origine%20bact%C3%A9rienne

Glyphosate is recognized for its effectiveness against perennial, deep-rooted, grass and broad-leaf weeds, as well as woody brush problems in crop and noncrop areas. It is a translocated, foliar-applied herbicide that can be applied at any stage of plant growth or at any time of year, with most types of application equipment, including the new wick, roller, and wiper devices. Its mechanism of action appears to be the inhibition of the synthesis of aromatic amino acids, which results in the inhibition of nucleic acid metabolism and protein synthesis. 2, record 5, English, - roller%20applicator
