That's the buzz phrase, "go dark. "This means that, if you are an investigator, all of a sudden all of your access to information evaporates, because not only the material but the systems that carry the material are so heavily encrypted you are not able to even detect the trail that you might like to follow. That is a huge issue that is technological on one side, and legal and constitutional on the other side. 1, record 1, English, - go%20dark

1, record 1, French, - devenir%20invisible

Later, candles were used by everyone for light and later again oil-lamps were used. A variety of beautiful brass lamps with decorative globes were sold for use in parlours, bedrooms and kitchens. For outdoor use and in sheds, less decorative lamps were used. The storm lamp, which had a closed globe, was useful on dark nights when farmers needed to go around the farm checking on livestock. Electricity was practically unheard of in the early 20th century but this changed with the setting up of the E. S. B. in 1927. 1, record 2, English, - storm%20lamp

Another promising development is that of "non linear" optical materials which go from clear to dark when subjected to an electrical charge. This transition can serve as the on-off switch that is the essence of digital transmission of data. Non-linear optical materials are expected to figure prominently in the fiber-optic data transmission networks that are expected to develop during the decade. Present fiber-optic systems use glass, which act not as a switch but as a passive conduit. 1, record 3, English, - non%2Dlinear%20optical%20material

Diffusion filters produce "soft" images and tend to flare bright areas of a scene into dark areas(...) There are several different types of diffusion filters on the market.(...) some contain wavy criss cross patterns, and some have concentric circles lightly etched into them. They all work in basically the same way, though. The plain areas of the diffusion filter allow the light to go straight through, forming a normal sharp image on the film. The areas of the diffusion filter that have been embossed or etched or waved or whatever bend the light that strikes them, forming one or more unsharp images that overlap the sharp one. 1, record 4, English, - diffusion%20filter

1, record 4, French, - bonnette%20%C3%A0%20flou
