Incidental observations are casual wildlife sightings that happen when you’re outside – hiking, camping, swimming, driving, etc. Spotting a species in the "right place at the right time" can have a far-reaching effect. Knowing what species are present in different locations helps identify areas that are important (e.g. breeding sites, hibernation sites, migration routes, etc.), which also helps to improve conservation efforts. 5, record 1, English, - incidental%20observation
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Chance observations provided the earliest data on raptor diet, and are still recorded today. These are the events all naturalists happen to see, such as a flying buzzard with an especially long snake dangling limply below it... There was no forethought to go and record what buzzards were eating, but having seen something exciting the observer may want to record it in a local bird report or online. Why should a modern scientist bother with such unsystematic data when trying to make an assessment of buzzard diet?... while such chance observations can’t be used on their own to understand common buzzard behaviour, they do supplement the more rigorous data collection and help to complete the picture of diet diversity. 4, record 1, English, - incidental%20observation

2, record 1, French, - observation%20fortuite

In an effort to lose weight, some people will try anything, including ill-advised weight loss methods like crash dieting. A crash diet is a diet that severely restricts caloric intake. In fact, these diets often restrict caloric intake so much that the dieter is bordering on starvation. In return for practically starving themselves, dieters are promised dramatic weight loss in just days or weeks. For example, a crash diet may offer dieters the chance to lose 10 to 20 pounds in just five to seven days and even more in the weeks to come. 2, record 3, English, - crash%20diet
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
There's a lot to worry about with crash dieting, as it deprives a person of the nutrients and calories they need for optimum health and survival. Many people think of calories negatively, but a person actually needs a certain number of calories to maintain basic bodily functions, such as breathing. When a person consumes too few calories because of a crash diet, they may actually put their health at serious risk. Many crash diets require a person to consume less than 1200 calories per day, and some even go as low as 700 or 800 calories daily. For the average person, this is simply too few calories. 2, record 3, English, - crash%20diet

Research conducted by Dornblaser and others has found that the three-square-meals-a-day philosophy, which has long been declining in popularity, is dead. Even families with children, or those who aren’t on the go all the time, are choosing more frequent, smaller meals throughout the day. Nutritional advice and high-profile diet books, like The Zone, continue to recommend the grazing style of many little meals throughout the day as the preferable choice. 2, record 5, English, - grazing

2, record 5, French, - grignotage
