GO DOWN MIDDLE [4 records]

Record 1 2020-11-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Physical Fitness Training and Bodybuilding
CONT

Master the Overhead Squat.... If you do it right, the overhead squat is an effective movement for your legs, hips, shoulders, even your abs [abdominal muscles].... When trying to perform an overhead squat, a lot of people either shift their weight too far forward onto their toes or back onto their heels, among other mistakes. You want to aim to keep your weight balanced over the middle of your arches, with your arms over your feet. Begin in a standing position, holding a dowel overhead with your arms straight and your feet about shoulder-width apart. Initiate the movement with your hips, squatting back and down until the tops of your thighs are at least parallel to the floor. As you go, think about pulling the dowel apart with your hands. Push through your hips to return to a standing position.

OBS

This bodybuilding exercise can be performed with a medicine ball, a barbell, dumbbells or any other accessory.

  • Diplomacy
CONT

During his October 1977 address to the United Nations General Assembly, U. S. President Jimmy Carter described zig-zag diplomacy as it pertains to the Middle East crisis(Israeli-Arab States) :"A Geneva settlement is like a tall mountain, full of crevices and sharp rocks. Therefore, you don’t go to it in a straight line. You go through zigs and zags. You even go down a little bit, then you keep moving. As long as you know where you’re going, that's what's important. And we know where we’re going. We know we’ve got to make zigs and zags. "

DEF

Piece of plastic installed in WCs which reduces the volume but not the velocity of water when flushing.

CONT

To conserve water without springing leaks, add a couple of narrow, one-quart plastic bottles to displace some of the water that would normally go down with every flush.... Another option is to install a water dam, which partitions the tank into three sections and allows only the water from the middle portion to activate the flush. This saves two to four gallons per flush. Water dams conserve more water than bottles, but they’ve been known to leak.

OBS

CONT

Fresh powder snow soon becomes "skied out", or "tracked out". This is sometimes known as "crud"(although this term is also used for breakable crust)... The problem is that the fresh snow is now packed down in some areas, and piled up in others. So the amount of resistance that your skis encounter is always changing. You need to constantly look ahead and anticipate this. When you’re about to go through a deep pile, push your feet forward slightly. For the firmer sections, stand more in the middle of the ski. Rather than persisting with the short, bouncy turns of true powder, you will be better served in crud by longer, rounder, carved arcs.

La neige trafollée est une neige qui a été tracée les jours précédents par des skieurs. Leurs traces ont parfois durci et rendent alors la surface irrégulière et désagréable à skier.
