A special case of process lapse rate, defined as the rate of decrease of temperature with height of an air parcel lifted in a saturation-adiabatic process through an atmosphere in hydrostatic equilibrium. 3, record 1, English, - saturated%20adiabatic%20lapse%20rate

So, if condensation is taking place, latent heat is being released to the surrounding air. So you have two opposing trends going on at the same time within this parcel of air. It's rising and cooling, but it's also condensing and being warmed. Which one will win out? That is, will the air get colder, or will it get warmer? Well, what happens is that the air will still cool off, but not as fast. If water vapor in the air is condensing, the adiabatic rate is less. The air is only cooling off at a rate of about 5 degrees C/1000 meters(3. 3 deg per 1000 feet). This is called the Saturated adiabatic lapse rate(or the wet adiabatic lapse rate, or the moist adiabatic lapse rate, depending on the textbook you are using). The saturated lapse rate varies with the original temperature of the air parcel, but 5 degrees C/1000 meters is a commonly used value. 6, record 1, English, - saturated%20adiabatic%20lapse%20rate

The pseudoadiabatic lapse rate is so close to the moist adiabatic lapse rate that meteorologists tend to ignore this difference and often refer to them synonymously. In fact, on adiabatic charts (or pseudoadiabatic charts), the moist adiabatic lapse rate lines are referred to interchangeably as moist, saturated, or pseudoadiabatic. 7, record 1, English, - saturated%20adiabatic%20lapse%20rate

Archival and Permanent. Essentially these terms are synonymous and are frequently used interchangeably. To us they have the same meaning : that is, forever. To say that we are going to keep forever everything that is now classified as archival or permanent is a rather positive statement and one which none of us can guarantee. Yet it does express our intention in relation to records which have been appraised as being of permanent value, or archival. 2, record 2, English, - archival

Affirmer que nous conserverons indéfiniment toutes les pièces qui ont été classées comme document d'archive ou document permanent est une attestation pour le moins catégorique mais dont personne ne peut garantir la certitude. Some provinces, e. g., Ontario, require that this ratio be disclosed in prospectuses. Assets valued well in excess of a company's debt are normally required to generate the earnings necessary to meet interest requirements and repay indebtedness. At the same time, asset coverage shows the amount of assets(at book values) backing the debt securities. However, at best, asset values should be treated with extreme caution as the realizable value of assets in liquidation could be substantially less than their book values when the company is a going concern. 3, record 5, English, - asset%20coverage

Vulture investors are individuals and institutions that come to the aid of, or prey upon, troubled companies. Smart vultures don’t simply buy common shares in a company that is trending toward bankruptcy. Instead, they’ll lend money at extraordinarily high interest rates, or demand a chunk of equity in return for the loan, or demand to buy stock at a discount to the current market price. Frequently, such transactions cause a dilution of the value of the shares held by existing shareholders and create a situation in which the new investors have better claims on a company’s assets and income than do existing common shareholders. 3, record 12, English, - vulture%20investor

Distressed debt investors are sometimes referred to as vultures because they specialize in buying up the bonds of struggling companies in the hopes of seeing the bond value rising in a restructuring or recovery of a business. 5, record 12, French, - investisseur%20vautour

[Switching value is the] value that reverses the ranking of two alternative projects. For example, Farm A will produce beef with high technology equipment and few workers, while Farm B will consist of a low-technology operation employing many farm workers. Up to a weight of 1. 5 on income going to the poor, Farm A has a higher rate of return. However, if a weight greater than 1. 5 is given, Farm B will have a higher rate of return. The switching value, therefore, is 1. 5. 3, record 13, English, - switching%20value

Is there some way to get a power supply to sink current? Yes there is! You can use a circuit called a shunt regulator.... Note that instead of current going through a transistor to get to the output, the current flows through a resistor to the output. By Ohm's Law, there is going to be a voltage drop across the resistor. The job of the transistor is to conduct just the right amount of current to ground so that the output voltage is at the set value. 2, record 15, English, - shunt%20regulator
