Camp Ziouani is located on the Golan Heights, in the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force(UNDOF) mission area. The Camp is situated approximately 50km NE of tiberias, a city on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, 200km NE of Tel Aviv, Israel and approximately 65km SW of Damascus, Syria. When the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization(UNTSO) was formed in 1948, the initial purpose was to observe the truce established in Palestine between the newly created state of Israel and its Arab neighbours. UNTSO currently assists other UN missions in the Middle East to monitor a number of truces and ceasefire arrangements.
