CONT

The 316 kilometre mineral pipeline was constructed to transport concentrated copper and gold from the mine, in Catamarca, to the treatment and filtration plant and railway terminal, located near Tucumán. It has 3 pumping stations, and is designed to transport up to 103 tonnes of material per hour; the material moves at approximately 5 kilometres per hour. The pipeline has a 2 millimetre polyethylene outer shell, and a 6 millimetre inner polyethylene coating.

Four electrode materials were identified as candidates for the fabrication of sheet actuators. These were graphite powder, conductive greases, Patterned gold and conductive elastomers. Graphite powder, conductive greases, and conductive polymers are compliant materials and will move as the polymer film is actuated. A gold electrode would have to be patterned to allow it to deform as the polymer film is actuated.

CONT

A new fabrication technique is proposed to create electrodes on thin ionic polymer membranes for micro actuator applications. The technique consists in plasma deposition of a thin(a few nm) allylamine coating on the membrane followed by stepwise assembly of Au colloids on the amine surface into a conductive electrode. Patterned gold electrodes can be created by using a stencil mask during allylamine plasma deposition.

Mirrored Lenses-FL(Flash) : A coloured coating applied to the outside of the lens. The coating can be applied over any base colour lens, i. e. vermillon, amber, grey. Due to their reflective properties, any mirrored lens will appear darker since it will reflect a certain amount of light trying to reach the eye. A mirrored lens will also add an extra buffer against glare. Mirrored or "Flash" lenses are available in a variety of different colours. Unless otherwise marked, these lenses use Vermillon as a base colour. The following colours are available as a Flash coating :Gold Flash, Amber Flash, Bollé 100 Flash; Blue Flash; Silver Flash; Green Flash; Gun Flash.
