GOLD DEPOSITION [9 records]

Record 1 2015-04-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Economic Geology
CONT

mineral sequence : The order of deposition during formation. A normal sequence is stated to be oxides followed by sulfides and ending with elements, such as gold. Ideal conditions necessary for normal deposition are those which are not subjected to crowding, telescoping, stretching, etc. during the deposition or rejuvenation of mineralizing solutions, effective changes of wall rock along the vein, or any of the similar changes common in ore deposition.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géologie économique
CONT

CONT

However, recent research has identified massive storage of mining sediments in rivers draining the Sierra piedmont. These sediments are mobilized during floods and deposited in the bypasses in large volumes. Such deposition has major implications for flood control, the fate of mercury used extensively in gold mining, agricultural production, and lowland floodplain habitats.

CONT

CONT

Paleoplacer gold deposits... presumably formed in much the same manner as modern placers, but may have undergone considerable modification since their deposition.

OBS

The term [paleoplacer] is generally applied only to those heavy mineral accumulations that are notably enriched in particular commodities - e.g. gold paleoplacers ...

Key term(s)

CONT

Extensive carbonatization and introduction of Ca may have accompanied sulphide and gold deposition. It is possible that different hydrothermal fluids were involved during each of the progressive stages of the mineralizing event.

CONT

Dolomitization, of pre-, syn-, and post-ore age, is a widespread and characteristic feature of MVT [Mississippi Valley Type] districts. In spite of this, however, its significance and genetic history relative to burial diagenesis and the mineralizing event(s) is not well understood.

CONT

Brittle deformation takes the form of rupturing or shearing.

CONT

... sulphidation and accompanying gold deposition could have occurred during early metamorphism in a ductile regime... and must have preceded brittle deformation that occurred during formation of the late quartz veins and introduction of arsenic and tungsten.

OBS

As opposed to "ductile deformation."

DEF

DEF

Any process by which solid rock becomes sufficiently soft and plastic to permit it to flow or to permit geochemical migration of the mobile components.

CONT

Acid precipitation, ... was leaching aluminum from surrounding soils - a process known as mobilization and bearing it into the lake water.

CONT

Mobilization of synsedimentary gold during subsequent metamorphism and deformation, followed by its deposition in structurally favourable sites, were probably not essential for the genesis of the stratiform ores.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géochimie
DEF

CONT

Four electrode materials were identified as candidates for the fabrication of sheet actuators. These were graphite powder, conductive greases, Patterned gold and conductive elastomers. Graphite powder, conductive greases, and conductive polymers are compliant materials and will move as the polymer film is actuated. A gold electrode would have to be patterned to allow it to deform as the polymer film is actuated.

CONT

A new fabrication technique is proposed to create electrodes on thin ionic polymer membranes for micro actuator applications. The technique consists in plasma deposition of a thin(a few nm) allylamine coating on the membrane followed by stepwise assembly of Au colloids on the amine surface into a conductive electrode. Patterned gold electrodes can be created by using a stencil mask during allylamine plasma deposition.

OBS
