English

Subject field(s)
  • Economic Geology
  • Various Metal Ores
DEF

An elongated body of ore extending downward within a deposit (usually a vein), representing the more valuable part of the deposit.

CONT

... in the Emperor Gold Mine, Fiji,... vertical zoning of gold-silver tellurides in one of the main ore shoots gives rise to an increase in the Ag/Au ratio...

CONT

Magnetite is mostly fine- to medium-grained and is disseminated in granoblastic textures with the skarn minerals, or forms thin lenses, shoots, and stringers in the skarn zone.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géologie économique
  • Minerais divers (Mines métalliques)
DEF

Record 3 1980-08-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Currency and Foreign Exchange
OBS

Bimetallism would mean that the treasury would exchange dollars for either gold or silver, at some agreed-upon ounce ratio, such as 16 ounces of silver to each ounce of gold. Unless all countries agreed on the same 16/1 ratio, there would be a one-way movement of each metal to the peace where it was most valued(...). As a result, with every change in the relative supplies and demands for the two metals, there would be an ensuing punctuation in the foreign exchange rates between the two countries.(The percentage size of the fluctuation could be only two-sixteenths if their respective bimetallic parities were 16/1 and 18/1(...).)
