English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Instruments
  • Physics
CONT

Together with the large aperture magnet Goliath two tracking arms allow the spectrometry of charged particles. In addition two time-of-flight walls measure the velocity to provide the mass of each particle. Goliath is centred 3. 28m downstream of the target with a gap size of 1. 60m. It is a 1. 6 Tm dipole magnet bending the positively charged particles to the second tracking arm side, which is defined as the positive x-axis.

CONT

The magnet Goliath, which has been modified for the WA93 experiment by increasing the gap size from 1200mm to 1600mm and by special exit pillars to optimize the acceptance of the spectrometer, will be used without further modifications.

DEF

Culot (type E) en forme de filetage.

CONT

Il existe de très nombreux modèles de culots. Pour les lampes d'éclairage général, il y a deux types en usage : le culot à baïonnette, à deux ergots, et le culot à vis, dit Edison. Ce dernier assure de meilleurs contacts électriques avec la douille que le culot à baïonnette, mais associé à certains modèles de douilles, il peut être dangereux pour les utilisateurs si l'on ne prend pas soin de relier au neutre le pöle de la douille constitué par la vis.

CONT

The recent discovery of Hemlo gold deposits in Northern Ontario(Canada) has generated a rush of mining companies searching for gold in the area. Even though no gold has been produced, small mining companies are making great strides in the stock market. For example, the stock of Golden Sceptre and Goliath Gold Mines, joint-venture partners, has risen from about C$1 to about C$20-C$22 currently. However, the association of Murray Pezim, chairman of International Corona Resources and the flamboyant stock promoter who financed Hemlo drilling, with Hemlo has made some investors hesitant.
