In November 2019... Transport Canada accepted electronic visual distress signal devices(eVDSD) as an approved alternative to traditional pyrotechnic distress signals. Unlike traditional signals, eVDSD do not have an expiration date and are battery operated. When kept in good condition, these devices do not need to be replaced. Drained batteries simply need to be replaced. The main advantage of an eVDSD is that it reduces the number of conventional distress signals required on board. This lowers costs for boaters over the long run and leaves a smaller environmental footprint. 2, record 1, English, - electronic%20visual%20distress%20signal%20device

One approach to estimating how long someone has to live is referred to as the momentum of change. If someone's condition is changing from week to week, it's a good indication that there are only weeks of life left. If there are changes from one day to another, there are likely days of life left. When changes happen from one hour to another, there are usually hours left. This is a general guideline. 1, record 25, English, - momentum%20of%20change

We introduce a simple approach to finding approximate solutions to combinatorial problems. This approach called the Radial Search(RS) uses the concept of rings which define the location and size of search areas around current good solutions. It iteratively modifies the radii of these rings, and generates new centres, in order to cover the search space. A concentration step corresponds to choosing a solution as the centre of a new ring. An expansion step corresponds to the exploration around a given centre by increasing and reducing the radius of the ring until a better solution than the centre is found. This dynamic process of concentration and expansion of the search is repeated until a stopping condition is met. 1, record 27, English, - radial%20search

The cow should be in good body condition(BCS 6. 0) at calving which will result in a thrifty calf, and will increase the level of colostrum produced. This will improve general thrift of the calf throughout its early life. The growing calf should receive adequate nutrition to maintain a body condition of 5. 0-6. 0, which will result in an adequate weaning weight, but which will not result in an overly-fat heifer. Fat heifers have reduced milk production later in life and this condition should be avoided. While creep feeding is rarely ever recommended due to high cost and minimal returns, it is still done in some situations. This practice may result in excessively fat heifers and should be discouraged. The heifer needs to weigh at leat 450 lbs at 8 months to continue through the cycle and meet the target weights without needing a high level of nutrition. 1, record 28, English, - growing%20calf

The grain placed in the drying bin should be relatively clean. Fines, chaff, small or broken seeds and weed seeds increase the grain’s resistance to airflow. Fines also tend to accumulate in the center of the bin and may spoil due to lack of conditioning. 3, record 31, English, - broken%20seed

Good quality, clean, sound grain is much easier to maintain in storage than cracked and broken grain. Broken kernels will mold three to four times faster than whole kernels. Broken grain also is more susceptible to insect attack, since some insects feed only on broken or cracked kernels. The Common Aero Vehicle is a maneuvering reentry vehicle capable of carrying a payload(primarily munitions) down from a suborbital or orbital atmospheric reentry and either impacting a target directly or dispensing munitions at a chosen dispense location and condition. CAV has a relatively high hypersonic lift to drag ratio(L/D) to give good cross-range. CAV cross-range is roughly 1000 times the hypersonic L/D and typical CAV hypersonic L/Ds of 2. 0-3. 0 thus give 2000-3000 nautical miles of cross-range. CAV needs to be deployed at very high velocities to be effective and Mach numbers less than 20 for suborbital deliveries produce relatively short ranges and cross-ranges. 2, record 35, English, - common%20aero%20vehicle

As part of its 3R-V Program(Reduce at source, Reuse, Recycle, Valorize [sic :"reclamation" is the good equivalent for the French term "valorisation"]), Public Works and Government Services Canada is giving federal material managers the opportunity to acquire or dispose of items in good working condition online, in order to give the items a second useful life. The On-Line Reuse Centre(OLRC) puts into practice the second of the 3 Rs, namely, reuse. Foreseen as a pilot project for 2007-2008, the OLRC complements the network of reuse centres that are already up and running in some federal buildings. Since most facilities do not have the space or resources needed to house a reuse centre, the OLRC is an attractive alternative to get the ball rolling. A double tempering system is preferable for conditioning prior to milling. Unlike hard red spring wheats, the time required to bring sound, good quality durum to optimum milling condition is only five to six hours. Longer periods cause pigment changes resulting in loss of colour in the semolina and the pasta end product. It should be emphasized, however, that this tempering time may vary depending on the quality of durum wheat. A poor grade containing a high percentage of white grains absorbs moisture quickly and may require no more than three hours tempering time. Durum wheat is usually milled at a moisture content of approximately 16% to yield semolina at 14% moisture content. 1, record 55, English, - double%20tempering%20system

1, record 55, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20%C3%A0%20double%20conditionnement

The ignition transformer, commonly known as a step-up transformer, is used to step up the voltage to 5, 000 V in order to jump the gap at the end of the ignition electrode. Ignition transformers are quite trouble-free, and require only that the primary voltage correspond to that of the transformer, that the electrical connections be clean and tight, and that the secondary terminals be kept clean. If the secondary terminal post becomes fouled with soot, dust, or foreign matter, the high-tension spark can easily short circuit to the transformer case, resulting in no spark at the ignition electrode. A transformer in good condition should cause the spark to jump a gap of no less than 1/4 in. 3, record 56, English, - ignition%20transformer

Downlighting is not as unusual as uplighting because the eye is more accustomed to this condition. The primary feature is the ability to create texture patterns on the ground plane by directing the light through foliage or other overhead structures. It also provides a high contrast between upper and lower surfaces of foliage that can sometimes be used to good advantage. 2, record 70, English, - down%2Dlighting
