A family crisis can occur when the family has to change. According to research, a threat to the family's organization, structure, or culture can cause a crisis. There are several types of family crisis : Death of a family member, loss of a job, natural disaster etc. Not all crises are necessarily negative, even a good change may become a crisis, such as the birth of a baby, retirement, children leaving the home, having a new brother or sister, or adoption. 2, record 1, English, - family%20crisis

The [Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation] selected five indicators for the SII [social inclusion index] dwelling satisfaction, neighbourhood satisfaction, satisfaction with feeling part of the community, sense of safety and economic hardship. A single-factor SII structure based on these five selected items indicated a good fit of the model to the data. In other words, the findings suggested that dwelling and neighbourhood satisfaction, feeling part of the community, sense of safety, and economic hardship are related in a way that represents a common underlying construct, although the extent to which this construct measures social inclusion warrants further research. 1, record 4, English, - good%20fit%20of%20the%20model

1, record 4, French, - bonne%20ad%C3%A9quation%20du%20mod%C3%A8le

Silicon Drift Detectors(SDD) are essentially 450 μm-thick discs of high-resistivity silicon which is fully depleted by applying a negative bias voltage to both sides of the disc. On one side of the planar structure the bias is graduated across the device by means of a series of "drift rings" such that a strong transverse electric field component is developed within the structure. This is used to direct electrons produced as a result of x-ray interactions towards a small charge collecting anode. On the opposite side of the device(x-ray entrance side) there is a uniform shallow implanted junction contact to allow good low energy x-ray sensitivity and minimum charge loss. 2, record 7, English, - silicon%20drift%20detector

Tillage is the oldest and still widely used method of controlling weeds but the use of herbicides has increased dramatically in recent years. With tillage, the timing, depth of tillage, and choice of implements used, all require the exercise of good judgment. However, tillage often increases the risk of wind and water erosion because of its adverse effects on soil structure and its partial destruction of trash cover. Tillage is most effective when used in combination with other measures, such as timely application of selective herbicides, sowing of barley and rye as competitive crops, and seeding fields to forage crops. 1, record 8, English, - trash%20cover

1, record 8, French, - couverture%20de%20d%C3%A9bris%20v%C3%A9g%C3%A9taux

Bipedal gait and purposeful movement are astounding abilities of humans. The integration of spatial position, stability of balance, and locomotion is complex... In humans the bulk of weight is in the proximal parts of the limbs and trunk... Such a structure is inherently unstable and prone to falls. The success of the human species with such an "engineering handicap" seems surprising at first, but there are important advantages in bipedal locomotion. It allows quick positional changes in all directions and rapid acceleration and deceleration in emergencies, it offers a good view of the surrounding environment and, probably most importantly, it minimises the energy expenditure of movement... 2, record 9, English, - bipedal%20gait

2, record 9, French, - marche%20bip%C3%A8de

There is good evidence that yeast hexokinase, which phosphorylates glucose with the terminal phosphate of ATP, involves the induced fit theory. X-ray diffraction studies show that the binding of both the sugar and the nucleotide causes extensive changes in tertiary structure. 1, record 13, English, - depth%20of%20tillage

1, record 13, French, - profondeur%20du%20labour

While all countries are encouraged to adopt the good practices proposed in the Code, implementation is voluntary. The Code is based on four general principles : Clarity of roles and responsibilities; Public availability of information; Open budget processes and Assurances of integrity. 2, record 15, English, - Code%20of%20Good%20Practices%20on%20Fiscal%20Transparency

Snowpack stability information is crucial for assessing the avalanche danger... The forecaster's objective is to detect weak layers, crusts etc. overlain by a potential slab structure, to follow their changes with time, and hence to assess current stability and the probability of slab avalanche release in the near future. Snow cover structure is investigated directly by digging pits and examining the stratigraphy at the exposed wall... All stratigraphy data is graphically represented as a so-called snow profile... Most liquid crystal polymers have in their structure a succession of para-ring structures. The liquid crystal formation is thought to relate to the fact there is a limiting concentration of rod-like chains that can exist in a random arrangement in a solution or melt. Once this concentration is reached, ordering or alignment of the chains is necessary to accommodate them. Fibers from liquid crystal polymers generally have high modulus and tenacity, good chemical resistance, and high-temperature resistance. They are used in a wide range of applications including protective apparel, tire cord, composites, ropes and cables, etc. 2, record 25, English, - liquid%20crystal%20polymer

A good indication of the positions of nearly all the non-hydrogen atoms in a protein can be obtained from a structure solved to a resolution of 3. 0 A or better. Such a study involves a series of stages. Firstly, tens of milligrams of the protein must be isolated in pure form, and then crystals of millimeter dimensions must be grown which diffract X-rays to high resolution. However, reconstruction of the electron density of the molecule from diffraction data requires information about the amplitude and the phase of the X-ray reflections. To solve the phase problem, diffraction data from at least one heavy-metal derivative of the protein must be measured. Thus an electron density map of the molecule can be calculated. 1, record 34, English, - electron%20density%20map

1, record 34, French, - carte%20de%20densit%C3%A9%20%C3%A9lectronique

The didactic base may also contains a large repertoire of local and global didactic techniques which they call teaching "routines" and "agendas"(Leinhardt and Greeno, 1986) or "tactics" and 'strategies"(Ohlsson, 1987a) These techniques can be very general(i. e., correction by counterexample), domain-specific(e. g., use of Dienes blocks for teaching decimal number representation), or even specific to classes of students(e. g., different age groups). 1, record 35, English, - didactic%20base
