Traditionally, duties and taxes are paid after customs has verified the particulars and confirmed that they correspond to the goods examined or, in any event, before the goods are removed or released from the warehouses or premises subject to customs control. At present, payment may be made at different moments during the procedure and in different ways, depending on the country concerned : a) before the arrival of the goods at the point of introduction into the country of entry; b) before the declaration is presented to customs; c) before the acceptance of the declaration by customs; d) after the presentation of the declaration and before customs carries out its checks on the goods.
