Those who recorded the period of the fur trade in writing noted a distinction which still exists today between Crees of the coast(Coasters) and Crees from the interior(Inlanders). The main activity of the coastal Crees was goose hunting; their hunting and trapping territories were not very far away and did not require the use of a canoe... The inland Crees, more numerous than those of the coast and occupying the land at a distance from the coast, only came to the post once a year to exchange their furs; they were the main suppliers of pelts. 1, record 4, English, - Cree%20of%20the%20coast
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 OBS
There are four ways to express an indigenous collectivity in English: 1) with the plural inflection "-s"; 2) if the collectivity does not apply to a subgroup, with the use of the term "nation", as in the Cree nation; 3) with the use of the word "people", as in the Huron and Cree peoples; 4) with the use of the definite article, e.g. The Cree of the coast make up the aboriginal nation occupying the Haute-Mauricie region. Since the "-s" is redundant, this author prefers the use of the definite article (e.g. the Cree, the Haida, etc.). However the use of "nation" is the option preferred most by the Native peoples of Canada, for political reasons. 2, record 4, English, - Cree%20of%20the%20coast

Confits can be sweet as in fruit jams("confitures") cooked with sugar; acid as in tomato confit cooked with vinegar; and oily as in duck confit preserved with duck(or goose fat). On November 11, Saint Martin's day, children in Flanders, the northern parts of the Netherlands, the Catholic areas of Germany and in Austria participate in paper lantern processions. Often, a man dressed as Saint Martin rides on a horse in front of the procession. The children sing songs about Saint Martin and about their lantern. The food traditionally eaten on the day is goose. According to legend, Martin was reluctant to become bishop, which is why he hid in a stable filled with geese. The noise made by the geese betrayed his location to the people who were looking for him. Also in the east part of the Belgian province East-Flanders, children receive presents from Saint Martin on November 11, instead of from Saint Nicholas on December 6, or Santa Claus on December 25. 1, record 36, English, - Saint%20Martin%27s%20day

1, record 36, French, - f%C3%AAte%20de%20la%20Saint%2DMartin

Durum wheat was grown even earlier in Eastern Canada than in Manitoba, under the name "goose wheat".
