In the gourd bow the bow is attached to a gourd which acts as a resonator. The top of the gourd is cut off and the opening is pressed against the chest or abdomen of the player... The gourd can resonate only the open string of the bow to which it has been cut, and when any other tone is played the gourd must be lifted away from the player's body so that its resonance will not interfere with the tone. 2, record 1, English, - gourd%20bow

1, record 1, French, - arc%20%C3%A0%20calebasse
