The Justice Studies Center of the Americas(JSCA) is an autonomous, intergovernmental organisation whose mission is to support the countries of the region in their judicial reform processes. The Center is headquartered in Santiago, Chile, and it includes all of the active member states of the OAS. The JSCA was created in 1999 by a resolution of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States(OAS) in compliance with the mandates contained in the Plan of Action of the Second Americas Summit(Santiago, April 1998) and the recommendations adopted at the General Meeting of the Justice Ministers and Ministers or Attorney's General of the Americas(REMJA). During these meetings, great emphasis was placed on the need to include the strengthening of judicial systems and the administration of justice as relevant issues with respect to governance and the economic development of the countries in the region.

Su sede se encuentra en Santiago, Chile, y sus miembros son todos los países integrantes activos de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA). Nace en 1999, por resolución de la Asamblea General de la OEA, en cumplimiento de los mandatos contenidos en el Plan de Acción de la Segunda Cumbre de las Américas (Santiago, abril de 1998), y las recomendaciones adoptadas en las Reuniones de Ministros de Justicia o de Ministros o Procuradores Generales de las Américas (REMJA). En ellas se enfatizó la necesidad de incorporar el fortalecimiento del sistema judicial y administración de justicia como tópico relevante para la gobernabilidad y desarrollo económico de los países.
