The International Paralympic Committee(IPC) is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games, and serves as the International Federation for 13 sports, for which it supervises and co-ordinates the World Championships and other competitions.

The first Olympic-style games for athletes with a disability – now called the "Paralympic Games" – were held after the 1960 Olympic Summer Games in Rome, Italy. The first Paralympic Winter Games took place in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, in 1976. The Paralympic Games have taken place at the same venues as the Olympic Games since the Seoul 1988 Paralympic Summer Games in South Korea and the Albertville 1992 Paralympic Winter Games in France.

Rowing Canada Aviron(RCA) is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in Canada. RCA was originally founded as "The Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen" in 1880 by the rowing clubs then in existence-to coordinate and regulate the sport of amateur rowing. In 1974 the name was changed to "The Canadian Amateur Rowing Association-Association Canadienne d’Aviron Amateur", which is still the legally constituted name, although Rowing Canada Aviron is now used as the operating name. RCA's mission is to provide and manage services and programs for the membership within a fully integrated rowing system model, which furnishes opportunities for every individual to reach his or her potential at all levels of participation.

Our Association was founded in 1975 to provide training for all municipal personnel who are engaged in the administration or the enforcement of legislation governing the maintenance, occupancy, repair and improvement of property and the environment. In 1990, our mandate was expanded to include training for municipal committee members and provincial government employees who are involved with Property Standards. A further expansion of our program occurred in 1992 to allow private individuals such as property managers, property owners, real estate agents and others, the opportunity to become better aquainted with Property Standards By-laws and enforcement procedures.
