The Common Departmental Financial System(CDFS) is a comprehensive on-line departmental financial management and reporting system designed to simplify and streamline financial administration. CDFS was developed to respond to the changing needs for financial management information in the federal government. It complements recommendations outlined in Public Service 2000 which called for departmental line managers to assume a greater responsibility for financial management of the areas under their control. Offered by Public Works and Government Services Canada(PWGSC), CDFS is an optional service. It replaces the FINCON and FINCAP systems. CDFS is a distributed system.
