In certain government procurements, the requirement purchase may be waived if purchasing the material domestically would burden the government with an unreasonable cost(the price differential between the domestic product and an identical foreign-sourced product exceeds a certain percentage of the price offered by the foreign supplier), if the product is not available domestically in sufficient quantity or quality, or if doing so is in the public interest. 1, record 17, French, - loi%20Achetez%20am%C3%A9ricain

On February 16, 2004, the Government announced that it was adjusting the program by removing the original requirement that animals be slaughtered before producers received payment. Generally, under current federal and provincial legislation, insurance and pension institutions can only invest in companies that have four to five years of positive earnings or four to five years of dividend payout. The provisions vary from province to province, but in all cases companies that meet those performance criteria-known as "legal-for-life" companies-presumably have sound financial histories that are deemed safe for life insurance companies to invest in. The federal government, however, plans to do away with the legal-for-life requirement and replace it with new "prudent portfolio" rules to guide the investment practices of insurance and pension fund managers. 1, record 40, English, - legal%2Dfor%2Dlife%20company

There must be duly completed supporting documents before a travel advance or reimbursement can be processed. Two examples of such documents would be the Travel Authority and Advance form and the Travel Expense Claim. The use of this compliance standard would ensure adherence to the travel policy requirement that written pre-authorization for travel shall be prepared for each journey on government business. 1, record 42, English, - compliance%20standard

1, record 42, French, - norme%20d%27observation
