Petroleum Tank Management Association of Alberta(PTMAA) is a not-for-profit society which began operation in February 1994 assuming responsibility work done by a provincial government project known as Management of Underground Storage Tanks(MUST). The PTMAA oversees and advises the public on tank registration, upgrading and contractor certification. It's also an accredited agency and will take over enforcement responsibility in municipalities not accredited to administer the Alberta Fire Code. On behalf of the provincial Department of Environmental Protection, the PTMAA also reviews cleanup plans for petroleum contaminated sites.
