In the 2023 federal budget, the Government of Canada announced an investment of $20. 2 million for a new, community-based program to prevent substance use and its related harms among young people. The Youth Substance Use Prevention Program... is now being launched by the Public Health Agency of Canada(PHAC). Using a collaborative approach, it focuses on building protective factors that promote overall health and well-being, and prevent substance use harms among youth.

Environmental Protection Alternative Measures(EPAMs) are an alternative to court prosecution for a violation of CEPA 1999. Alternative measures are also found in the Criminal Code for adult offenders and under the Youth Justice Act for juveniles. EPAMs under CEPA 1999 divert the accused-whether a company, individual or government agency-away from the court process after the person is charged.

Les mesures de rechange en matière de protection de l'environnement (MRPE) représentent une solution de rechange par rapport aux poursuites judiciaires intentées dans le cadre de la LCPE (1999). Des mesures de rechange figurent également dans le Code criminel pour les contrevenants adultes et la Loi sur les jeunes contrevenants pour les jeunes. Les MRPE aux termes de la LCPE (1999) permettent aux accusés - qu'il s'agisse d'une entreprise, d'un particulier ou d'une organisation gouvernementale - de ne pas avoir recours aux instances judiciaires après l'accusation de la personne.
