Guide samples are prepared by senior inspectors to serve as comparative samples for interpreting abnormal grading factors present in a particular crop year, usually to reflect damage to grain from a specific area or to reflect a single grading factor. Senior inspectors also review samples of all types of shipments to ensure the accuracy of grain inspections. Each inspection point must maintain grade average samples and submit them periodically to head office for review.
