In 1960 the Canadian Lumber Standards(CLS) was created to fulfill a need to create standardization and to build integrity into the grade stamping of lumber. CLS was a division of the Canadian Standards Association(CSA) an ISO certified body, until 1982. Although CLS continues to derive its authority, mandate and structure from this ISO certified body, in February of 1982 CLS was re-organized as the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board(CLSAB), a non-profit corporation under Letters Patent with the Federal Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs of Canada. The CLSAB polices the administration of the Special Product Standards & Grade Rules. 1, record 2, English, - Canadian%20Lumber%20Standards
