Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Every stream develops its own gradient and establishes a longitudinal profile. A portion of the stream is designated a graded stream when the stream is adjusted among available discharge, channel characteristics, its velocity, and the load supplied from the drainage basin. An interruption in a stream's longitudinal profile is called a nickpoint. A nickpoint can develop as the stream flows across hard resistant rock or after tectonic uplift episodes. 2, record 2, English, - nick%20point

A landform that can result when a natural (or artificial) levee is breached, usually during a flood, in one location. 2, record 3, English, - crevasse%20splay
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A crevasse splay is a geographical feature which forms when an overloaded stream breaks a natural or artificial levee and deposits sediment on a floodplain. This breach can cause large deposits that spread in a pattern similar to that of a river delta. In other words, coarser sediment is deposited first, close to the breach while finer sediment is carried farther to the edges of the crevasse splay. In cross section, the crevasse splay will result in graded deposits which may look like a Bouma sequence. 3, record 3, English, - crevasse%20splay
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Crevasse splays are essentially small lobate deltas forming within the framework of the larger delta. They consist of relatively thin, lens-like masses of sediment, showing small-scale prograding coarsening-upward sequences ... 4, record 3, English, - crevasse%20splay

The longitudinal profile of a graded stream or of one whose smooth gradient at every point is just sufficient to enable the stream to transport the load of sediment made available to it. It is generally regarded as a smooth, parabolic curve, gently concave to the sky, practically flat at the mouth and steepening toward the source; but current thought is that it need not be smooth. 1, record 5, English, - profile%20of%20equilibrium

Pente du lit de la rivière assurant avec le minimum de travail l'écoulement des eaux et le transport des matériaux.
