Yield components of crops. The yield of a grain crop plant can be divided into various components which together contributed to the yield. These components include : Heads, ears or pods per acre... Number of kernels or seeds per head, ear or pod... Weight per kernel or seed... Any crop production factor which decreases any one of these factors results in decreased yield.... Full yield potential is almost never achieved because environmental conditions may limit one or more of the yield components during the growing season. 2, record 1, English, - yield%20component

Many of the newer grains developed in Canada came forward in response to efforts by the grain industry to diversify small grains production in the early 1970s. The emphasis now has shifted increasingly to finding grain varieties with the capacity for increased yields and quality suitable to meet the growing export requirements for food and feed grains. Preharvest sprouting(PHS) is a phenomenon whereby seeds germinate while still attached to the mother plant. The occurrence of PHS in hexaploid wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) can drastically lower grain quality resulting in reduced prices for farmers. Wheat is susceptible to PHS anytime cool wet weather persists near harvest maturity, making it a problem in nearly all wheat growing regions worldwide. The main factor contributing to PHS susceptibility is the low level of seed dormancy encountered in modern cultivated varieties. 4, record 11, English, - preharvest%20sprouting

2, record 12, French, - grain%20entrepos%C3%A9

For purposes of grain transportation, the railway network in the grain growing area of Western Canada is divided into 49 segments. Each is known as a shipping block. There are 27 blocks on Canadian national, 20 on CP Rail, and two on Northern Alberta Railways. A block is a grouping of railway train runs established so that a railway can, within a block, provide flexible train service from week to week to the various branchlines. There may be two shipping blocks on one geographical area, one for CP Rail and one for Canadian national. 1, record 15, English, - shipping%20block

The Saskatchewan Canola Growers’ Association was formed in 1968 by rapeseed growers to promote research, production and marketing of rapeseed(now known for the most part as canola). It is strictly a producer organization and voting membership is available only to bona fide canola or rapeseed growers in Saskatchewan. It is a non-commercial and non-political organization. Their main purpose is to increase the profits from growing canola. They work closely with grain companies, crushers, the Canola Council of Canada and government agencies toward the improvement of grading, handling and marketing of canola. The Association encourages and sponsors research by the provincial departments of agriculture and universities, and sponsors courses for producers to increase their knowledge of Canada's grain handling and marketing systems. Membership includes a subscription to two publications concerning the industry. 3, record 16, English, - Saskatchewan%20Canola%20Growers%27%20Association

3, record 16, French, - Saskatchewan%20Canola%20Growers%27%20Association
