Kidney stones are hard, pebble-like pieces of material that form in one or both of your kidneys when high levels of certain minerals are in your urine.... Kidney stones vary in size and shape. They may be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a pea. Rarely, some kidney stones are as big as golf balls. Kidney stones may be smooth or jagged and are usually yellow or brown. A small kidney stone may pass through your urinary tract on its own, causing little or no pain. A larger kidney stone may get stuck along the way. A kidney stone that gets stuck can block your flow of urine, causing severe pain or bleeding. 2, record 1, English, - kidney%20stone

This insect, common in Great-Britain and Canada’s West Coast, is an omnivorous scavenger of cereal screenings, dust, etc. Occasionally it is a major pest of bulk wheat, bagged flour and a variety of stored commodities. In the home it is much more important as a clothes moth than as a pest of stored foods. 1, record 5, English, - brown%20house%20moth
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The adults vary in size with the male having a wing-spread of about 2 centimetres, while the female may at times exceed 2. 5 centimetres. The forewings are dark brown with a number of blackish-brown spots. Approximately 300 eggs are laid by each female, most of them within a few days of mating. Three times as many eggs are laid on sacking as on grain. The mature larva is about 2 centimetres in length, shiny white in colour, with a yellow head. The feeding larva spins a light, closely-woven tube of silk as it eats its way through a food mass. When temperatures are too low, many of the larvae become dormant rather than pupate, extending the larval stage. High relative humidity is a requirement for satisfactory larval growth. At summer temperatures and a relative humidity of approximately 90% the life cycle takes about 100 days. 1, record 5, English, - brown%20house%20moth

1, record 5, French, - %26oelig%3Bcophore%20bronz%C3%A9e

The Indian-meal moth has a wing-spread of about 2 centimetres. The forewings are creamy white next to the body, and have a reddish-brown colour with a coppery lustre on the outer two-thirds. The female moth lays about 200 eggs, either singly or in groups, on food material. The larvae are dirty white in colour, often with a greenish or pinkish tint. The newly hatched larvae are almost never seen because of their small size and the fact that they burrow as far as two metres into the grain mass. They normally remain in the grain until they have completed their larval growth. When fully grown they are about 1. 2 centimetres long. In summer their life cycle is about six weeks. 1, record 7, English, - indian%2Dmeal%20moth

The Indian-meal moth is cosmopolitan in distribution, feeding on stored grain as well as nuts, dried fruits and packaged cereals. The principal damage caused to wheat is to the germ: a single larva may destroy the germ of approximately 50 kernels in completing its development. Limestone is a calcium carbonate sedimentary rock that forms in deep ocean settings. Limestone comprises approximately 10 percent of all sedimentary rocks on the Earth. The most common varieties of limestone include micrite, oolitic limestone, fossiliferous limestone and coquina.... Examine the limestone rock to determine the grain size of the sample. Micrite, a fine-grained limestone, has grains so small that are not visible with the naked eye. Among the alkaloids produced by grass endophytes, the best known are ergot alkaloids because they are also produced by related fungi known for major poisoning events throughout history. The ergot alkaloids are so named because they are made by ergot fungi; that is, Claviceps species. "Ergots" are hard, dense resting structures of these fungi that typically replace the reproductive structures of Claviceps-infected grass florets. Ergots mimic the size, shape, and density of the seeds, so with traditional winnowing they tend to be retained in the grain rather than being removed with the chaff. 2, record 37, English, - ergot%20alkaloid

Factors influencing the filtration performance of geotextile can be classified into four categories-external conditions(hydraulic gradient and loading state) ;(bio) chemical conditions of fluent(pH, hardness(e. g. [Fe], [Mn], [Mg], [Ca]), redox potential(Eh) for iron ochre, BOD and COD of water(substrate type/concentration), osmotic pressure and dissolved oxygen) ;the properties of basement material(coefficient of uniformity(Cu), coefficient of gradation(Cc), plastic index(PI), double hydrometer ratio(DHR) for dispersive clay, particle shape and grain hardness for granular soil, compaction degree of soil and saturation degree) ;and the properties of geotextile(filtration opening size(FOS), apparent opening size(AOS), fiber density, textile bulk density(mass/area), porosity, thickness and fiber material)... screen test results clearly indicated that the height of self filtration is proportional to the constriction size(Dc) of granular filter used. Additionally, they suggested the filter opening size value should be within the range between d50 and d80 for linearly graded soil and within the flat range in gap graded soil. 2, record 38, English, - opening%20size

4, record 38, French, - ouverture%20de%20filtration

Rounded Grains are those in which the original form is no longer discernible and the crystal takes on a generally rounded amorphous appearance. Rounded grains typically tend to be smaller grains and are usually significantly smaller than the original grain from which they formed. Typical grain size is often less than 1 mm. Commonly referred to as "rounds" these grains tend to be found in harder or stronger snowpack layers. Rounded grains typically form when there is a weak temperature gradient in the snowpack(<1 degree/10 cm). Laser annealing of ion-implantation damage was perhaps the first area of laser processing investigated. This is one reason why there is wide-spread use of the term laser annealing to describe the entire field of laser wafer processing. The laser's ability in the following areas is well documented-for instance, the annealing of : 1. Polycrystaline silicon to increase grain size, 2. Polysilicon films to decrease sheet resistivity, 3. Ion implantation to diffuse dopant, 4. Ion implantation to heal stress areas, but the laser wafer annealer has applications beyond this, including : 1. Trimming resistors and capacitors, 2. Serializing wafers, 3. IC failure analysis, 4. Mask repair. 2, record 47, English, - laser%20annealing

A grain storage must be adequate to satisfy, at least-cost, the variable inputs and outputs. This, however, may require very high capital and running costs. Once again, optimum storage size is one that minimizes the sum of waiting costs and storage costs. Numerous factors such as number of loading points, seasonal variations(due to weather and other reasons) in arrival of shipments, and variety of grades imported must all be considered. However, all of these can be simulated on the computer model, and appropriate solutions can be found. 2, record 59, English, - storage%20capacity

2, record 59, French, - capacit%C3%A9%20de%20stockage

Krick's seeding of the hail clouds with silver iodide eliminated the hailstones entirely or greatly reduced them in size. Grain losses from hail fell to almost nothing compared to what they had been. 1, record 61, French, - lutte%20contre%20la%20gr%C3%AAle

SPI, or Sediment Profile Imagery, is an innovative and cost efficient method of surveying and/or monitoring lake or marine aquatic environments with a view to establishing the environmental status of these habitats or as part of a site suitability study.... SPI is based on single lens reflex(SLR) camera photography and computer-based image analysis which greatly accelerates the time required to write reports and provide relevant data to the client/legislator in a matter of weeks. SPI technology can readily quantify over 20 physical, chemical and biological parameters including : sediment grain size; prism penetration; surface pelletal layer; sediment surface relief; mud clasts; redox area; redox contrast; current apparent redox boundary; relict redox boundaries; methane gas vesicles; apparent faunal dominants; voids; burrows; surface features(e. g. worm tubes, epifauna, shell) ;dredged material; microbial aggregations; and successional stage. 1, record 62, English, - sediment%20profile%20imagery

Service time is the time the ship is at the unloading berth being unloaded or serviced. Obviously it depends on the ship unloader(s) being used. Ship unloaders for grain are designed and specified for a particular unloading rate expressed in tonnes per hour. From the milling separator, the grain passes to a gravity separator. This machine separates materials that may be similar in shape and size but that differ in specific gravity, such as wheat and small stones. Uncleaned wheat is "floated" on a metal screen which is oscillating rapidly. The grain moves down the sloping screen to the outlet while the stones are propelled toward the head of the screen by the oscillating movement, and collected separately. Although only a very small percentage of stones may be present, their removal is important since they cause extensive damage to processing machinery. Also, if they are ground along with the wheat, the undesirable fine mineral matter will end up in the flour. 1, record 73, English, - gravity%20separator

Hydrometer methods are based on the same principle as pipette methods [for grain size analysis by means of settling velocity. ] The density of a suspension(and thus its solid matter content) is measured at given intervals after initiation of sedimentation with a hydrometer inserted into the suspension.... The hydrometer method is not very accurate because of errors in reading the hydrometer, displaced particles, disturbance of the sedimentation process by the insertion and removal of the hydrometer, etc. Hence this process is but rarely used in sedimentological investigations. 1, record 91, English, - hydrometer%20method
