The lesser grain borer is a cosmopolitan insect, but it survives best in tropical climates where it attacks cereals as well as milo and sorghum.... The lesser grain borer is a much more ferocious feeder than weevils and what they do not eat they spoil. The female lays about 300 to 400 eggs and the larvae feed on the kernel remains left by their parents. At 34 degrees C, it takes 25 days for a complete life cycle. The lesser grain borer is a small brown insect with a cylindrical form, about 3 millimetres long. Looking at the insect from the top, its head is completely hidden by the thorax, which forms a hood-like cover. 2, record 5, French, - petit%20perceur%20des%20c%C3%A9r%C3%A9ales

Bacterial leaf stripe(Pseudomonas syringae subsp. andropogonis) is widely distributed and destructive on many types of sorghums(grain, forage, and sweet or sorgo), sudangrass, and broomcorn as well as on several other related grasses. Long, narrow stripes(1/4 inch by 9 inches or more) form on the leaves. These stripes are initially water-soaked, irregular, and bounded by veins. These areas soon dry and turn brick red, dark purplish red, reddish brown, or tan-to-dark brown depending on the sorghum variety. The color is continuous throughout the lesion. Later, the stripes elongate and fuse to form irregular blotches that cover a large part of the leaf surface and extend into the leaf sheath. Stalks and floral structures may show similar but more restricted lesions. 2, record 10, English, - bacterial%20leaf%20stripe

Grain processing : the type of grain and processing method can have a significant impact on the site and extent of starch digestion of a particular diet and resulting milk component composition and yield. Generally, ground, rolled, heated, steam fladed or pelletized grain increases starch digestibilities and propionic acid production in the rumen. Steam flaked corn or sorghum compared to steam rolled corn or dry rolled corn or sorghum consistently improves milk production and milk protein yield. In six comparisons, steam flaked corn increased milk protein percentage and yield and decreased milk fat percentage compared to steam rolled corn. Milk fat yield remained unchanged in these trials. 2, record 14, English, - flaked%20corn
