Wheat seed often contains considerable plant material trash, and it is often pre-cleaned. A typical pre-cleaner is similar to an air-screen cleaner, except that it has only one air channel to remove light material, one top scalping screen to remove large particles and one bottom grading screen to remove small particles. 2, record 1, English, - pre%2Dcleaner

A simple pre-cleaner used in rice mills usually contains an oscillating double screen bed with an aspirator. The first screen is a scalper that lets through the grain but retains straw. The second screen retains the grains but lets through broken grains and small stones or weed seeds. The air aspirator sucks out dust and the light empty grains. Air dampers are provided and have to be adjusted to prevent the good grain from being sucked out. 3, record 1, English, - pre%2Dcleaner

Sustainable eating is about choosing foods that are healthful to our environment and our bodies. According to the 2019 EAT-Lancet Commission on healthy diets from sustainable food systems, a global shift toward more plant-based foods would help feed the world's growing population a nutritious and sustainable diet. This plant-based eating style includes more legumes(beans, peas, lentils, peanuts), whole grains, vegetables, fruits and nuts, and [fewer] animal-based foods, especially red meat and processed meat. Limiting refined grains and added sugars is encouraged as well. 3, record 4, English, - sustainable%20eating

5, record 4, French, - alimentation%20%C3%A9coresponsable

Remotely acquired data using the Landsat satellite system provide a means for initiating crop growth simulation models and crop phenology models at a field level over a large geographic area. A model based on Landsat spectral data has been developed that estimates a spectral emergence of the crop at a pixel(field) level. This spectral emergence date is evaluated using dates of planting and emergence reported by farmers for their fields or spring wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) and barley(Hordeum vulare L.) located in North and South Dakota. The model can provide a means of understanding the distribution of crop emergence across all pixels of a region. This knowledge of emergence date of spring grains from satellite data provides an ability to run crop development and yield prediction models at field level. 1, record 6, English, - spectral%20emergence%20date

The limitations vegetarians place on themselves can be classified by seven categories of food : red meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy products, root and leaf vegetables, and fruits/nuts/grains.... the strictest form of vegetarian, the fruitarian, abstains from all but one of the seven categories of food—the fruit of plants. This means that they can eat fruit vegetables, such as peppers and cucumbers, as well as nuts and some grains. The aim is to avoid injury to either animals or plants... Moreover, the fruit is preferably consumed in a raw, uncooked state... 2, record 12, English, - fruitarian

Starchy versus non-starchy vegetable classification is broadly based on the parts of a plant that are consumed.... Starchy vegetables... have a higher starch(or sugar) content [than non-starchy vegetables] and are considered dietary staples similar to rice or other grains. Starchy vegetables include some tubers and roots, such as potatoes and sweet potatoes(yams), cassava, sago yams, and taro. Although botanically they are classified as fruit, plantains are also classified as starchy vegetables. While starchy vegetables are concentrated sources of starch, they are less starchy than grains. Other root vegetables like carrots, beets, parsnips, turnips, and rutabagas are classified as non-starchy vegetables. 2, record 13, English, - starchy%20vegetable

1, record 19, French, - r%C3%A9gime%20pal%C3%A9olithique

Freshly harvested "green" wild rice is invariably on the damp side. It must commence drying, or "curing, "almost immediately, or souring and mold will develop, especially in broken or crushed grains. Dust grains in the interstellar medium have a typical size that is comparable to the wavelength of blue light. The result is that the blue light coming from distant objects is strongly absorbed and scattered by the dust, essentially removing it from the light reaching us and making the objects appear redder than they really are. This is known as interstellar reddening and must be taken into account by astronomers analysing data taken at optical wavelengths in particular. 2, record 40, English, - interstellar%20reddening

The adult has a wing-spread of about 2.5 centimetres. The forewings are pale grey with transverse black wavy lines. The female moth lays about 300 eggs. When fully grown, the larvae are about 1.2 centimetres long, whitish or pinkish in colour, with a dark brown head. The body hairs on the back arise from dark brown spots. When mature, the larvae spin cocoons in which they pupate. The cocoon may be formed in food, machinery, or on bare surfaces. The life cycle from egg to adult requires about eight or nine weeks under summer conditions. 2, record 63, English, - mediterranean%20flour%20moth

3, record 84, French, - bact%C3%A9rie%20fix%C3%A9e

The actual method used in initial crossing of wheat varieties is conditioned by the fact that wheat is bi-sexual and normally self-pollinating. Before the wheat plant has shed its pollen, the anthers are removed with forceps from the flowers of the plant that is to become the female parent, and a cover is slipped over the emasculated wheat head to exclude foreign pollen. Two or three days later, the cover is taken off and ripe anthers are removed from another wheat plant, selected as the male parent, broken over the stigma of each emasculated flower, and the cover replaced. The fertilized egg cells now develop into grains which usually mature a little more than a month later. 2, record 87, English, - self%2Dpollinating

1, record 87, French, - autof%C3%A9cond%C3%A9e

... recent cold temperatures combined with shallow snow is a dangerous mix, creating a weak snowpack that cannot hold much weight. [According to him] "slabby" snow is making the backcountry dangerous. Snow grains that have blown around and then stuck together are layered on top of a weaker layer of snow. This slabby layer, he said, gives a misleading feel that it is strong, but it can easily cave in on the weak layer beneath, causing an avalanche. 3, record 98, English, - slabby%20snow

Check out how well the new snow is sticking to the layer below and whether or not the new snow is cohesive and slab-like before riding a slope. Slabby snow on top of a weak layer is a recipe for large triggered avalanches. 1, record 98, English, - slabby%20snow
Record number: 98, Textual support number: 1 OBS
When used, "slabby snow" is always related to direct sensation of the snow by the observer whether by skiing or travelling through it, or by tests. This may be as a result of wind action on the snow, but could equally be due to the effects of sun or temperature on new snow layers. 2, record 98, English, - slabby%20snow

2, record 98, French, - neige%20avec%20une%20certaine%20coh%C3%A9sion
