The pedal on the right is called the sustain pedal or damper pedal and the function is the same on both a grand piano and an upright. The dampers are the mechanism that stops the strings from vibrating. Depressing the damper pedal causes all the dampers to lift off the strings thus sustaining the sound and allowing the sounds to blend together.

OBS

The sustaining pedal is sometimes erroneously called the loud pedal.

El pedal de resonancia al ser pisado libera los apagadores de las cuerdas, lo que permite que la nota siga sonando aunque se haya dejado de pulsar la tecla, añadiendo además una gran cantidad de armónicos de otras cuerdas que vibran por simpatía, aumentando de este modo el volumen sonoro y, en su caso mezclando notas, acordes y armonías diversas, pero usado con destreza también permite pequeños efectos sutiles de expresión, cantabilidad, fraseo o acentuación.

At Rosendahl the task of toolmaking has been taken beyond the realm of simple need. This Grand Cru foil cutter cuts foil with even edges-safely and easily. Place the foil cutter on the bottle, make a half turn to the left and a half turn to the right, and the foil is cut. Lift up and remove the foil. The four sharp knives on the foil cutter make one precise cut. The rubber edge secures the right cutting height.
