The actual term "la logistique", translated in English to logistics, was coined from Maréchal Général de Logis(Quatermaster-General) by the foremost military theorist of the first half of the 19th century, Baron Antoine Henri Jomini. Based principally upon his war campaign experiences as a staff officer for Napoleon, Jomini wrote his "Précis de l'art de la guerre"(Summary of the Art of War) in 1836. Le terme «logistique», traduit en anglais par l'expression «logistics», est introduit dans la langue par le principal théoricien militaire de la première moitié du 19e siècle, le baron Antoine Henri Jomini qui, pour ce faire, s'est inspiré du titre du Maréchal Général de Logis (Quartier-maître général). En 1836, Jomini publie un livre intitulé «Précis de l'art de la guerre» dans lequel il fait état de ses expériences de guerre en qualité d'officier d'état-major au service de Napoléon.
