Many granitic or gneissic terrains are weathered to arenaceous products. The crystalline rock is still recognizable by its structure, by the veins that cross it and by traces of fractures, but it is decomposed or "rotten. "The thickness of this arenization is quite variable, but in Europe it may reach more than ten meters and, under other climates, several tens of meters. This arenization is for a great part the result of meteoric alteration. 1, record 1, English, - arenization

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT

(...) the metal deposits are concentrated, during the formation of a granitic rock, in inverse ratio to the amounts in which they can be incorporated in the ordinary minerals of the granite. The metallic ions, thus concentrated, have been "rejected", as it were, by the granite. This would depend particularly on the ionic radii and charges. Offhand these points of view could explain the singular concentrations of lead, zinc and copper, metals rare in the Earth's crust with respect to its average chemical composition, but nevertheless accumulated in enormous tonnages in some perigranitic deposits. 1, record 27, English, - theory%20of%20Sullivan%20and%20Guimaraes

The debris of the rock framework form kinds of partitions or "septa", between granitic veinlets of migmatites. These partitions become stretched, frayed and twisted in the mobilization of the rock mass. The granitic veinlets show a foliation resembling a fluidity. This foliation becomes discordant in separated parts of the migmatite within short distances, and very often even angular folds of septa are found in abrupt disharmony with other portions in the immediate neighborhood(...) This type of folding is called "symmigmatic" folding by M. Roques(1941). 1, record 28, English, - symmigmatic%20folding
