Aquatint. The special granular effect of the ground is applied by either dry or wet methods. In the former case, the plate is placed in a bitumen powder cupboard in which a fine dust of the powder is whirled about and allowed to settle uniformly on the upturned surface of the plate. This dust is melted by a heater under the plate.
