Tolerance of plants to low water availability would involve physiological changes that allow the plant to survive the low water contents. Avoidance would involve minimizing exposure to conditions of low water content.

And what of the thousands of square miles of agricultural land which is not fertilized, or the even larger areas of untended grazing land? What effect has acid rain had, what effect will it reveal, and how soon? At present, there simply isn’t enough scientific information to answer these questions.
