GRAZING CONDITIONS [4 records]

Record 1 2021-08-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cultural Practices (Agriculture)
  • Forage Crops
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
DEF

[A] rotational grazing in which one paddock is grazed at a time while other paddocks recover and livestock numbers are adjusted as needed to match available forage as conditions change.

  • Culture des plantes fourragères

Record 2 2004-07-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Living Matter - General Properties
  • Plant Biology
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
CONT

Grazing resistance is an ambiguous term used to describe the relative ability of plants to survive grazing.

OBS

Avoidance mechanisms reduce the probability and severity of plant defoliation(i. e., escape mechanisms), while tolerance mechanisms facilitate growth following defoliation(i. e., mechanisms of rapid leaf replacement). The ability of a species to survive grazing undoubtedly results from a combination of these two components, but in certain species and under specific environmental conditions, one component may predominate over another.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Propriétés générales de la matière vivante
  • Biologie végétale
  • Alimentation des animaux (Agric.)
CONT

Record 3 2003-09-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atmospheric Physics
CONT

The theory of tropospheric scattering is based on a combination of several models : The mechanism indicated by fig. 2a involves a tropospheric layer, or feuillet, which has a sufficiently abrupt change in refractive index, usually associated with fair weather conditions, to reflect a substantial amount of radio energy at the grazing angles and frequencies of interest.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique de l'atmosphère
DEF

Record 4 2001-05-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Forage Crops
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
CONT

Select species suited to the conditions in the seep and to your grazing needs(refer to the grazing calendar in the Alberta Forage Manual). Wheatgrasses are a good choice for spring pasture due to their lush spring growth, but become coarse and rank in the late summer and fall.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Culture des plantes fourragères
  • Génie agricole
  • Alimentation des animaux (Agric.)
DEF
