DEF

A statistic that quantifies a specific aspect of the online social reach, performance or return on investment of a business, entity, organization, person, group, etc. within a ... widget or any social media [platform].

CONT

The first – and easiest – social media metric to measure is volume... Volume is a great initial indicator of interest. People tend to talk about things they either love or hate... While volume can seem like a simple counting metric, there's more to it than just counting tweets [or] wall posts. It's important to measure the number of messages about your brand, as well as the number of people talking about your brand, and track how both of those numbers change over time.

Subject field(s)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
CONT

Cine magnetic resonance imaging : A type of imaging technique used primarily in the field of cardiology. By triggering a MRI [magnetic resonance imaging] sequence with prospective ECG [electrocardiographic] gating, numerous short time frames evenly spaced in the cardiac cycle are produced. These images are sequenced together in a cinematic display so that wall motion of the ventricles, valve motion, and blood flow patterns in the heart and great vessels can be visualized.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Imagerie par résonance magnétique
DEF

Technique d'imagerie par résonance magnétique qui permet d'obtenir, après chaque impulsion de radiofréquence, plusieurs images successives du même plan de coupe d'un organe en mouvement, ce qui permet la représentation dynamique de cet organe.

Subject field(s)
  • Types of Glass
CONT

Dr. Stookey [chemist] continued to find new uses for glass. Among them, the discovery of machinable glass, and polychromatic glass that produced full-color images when exposed to light and heat.

CONT

There are two layers of glass mounted in each wall section. The outer layer is thick glass onto which text and graphics have been etched. The inner layer of glass is specially manufactured polychromatic glass, also known as LCD glass due to the layer of liquid crystal diode film that is laminated between two sheets of standard glass. When a small amount of electrical current is applied to the LCD film, it changes instantly from opaque to transparent, a feature that has been used to great effect in a number of other installations.

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Engineering
CONT

To prevent pollution of the public water supply, the disposal of spent sulfite liquor into rivers is, in many cases, forbidden. The only solution possible is to evaporate it or even to dry it out completely.... The back-pressure process is notable for its great heat economy, but it makes necessary the profitable utilization of the back-pressure steam.... Because of the high temperatures during the evaporation process, thermal decomposition of the liquor may occur.... The thermal compression method is especially advantageous when cheap power is available. The steam formed during the evaporation is compressed and passed along the outer wall of the evaporator where it is condensed and its latent heat transferred to the boiling liquor.

OBS

back pressure evaporator: A type of evaporator used to concentrate pulp mill wash liquors and operate with all effects or units under pressure, with low-pressure steam leaving the last effect. It gives best economy in cases where there is a steady use for low-pressure steam, and is commonly used to concentrate bisulfite liquors.

Heat circulating prefabricated fireplaces... are [made of] prefabricated shells used as liners for masonry fireplaces. They are of double wall construction to allow air movement between panels. This movement picks up heat that might otherwise be lost up the chimney... While a heatilator-equipped fireplace can produce more useable heat than a standard fireplace the vent system is not capable of extracting a great deal of heat.
