GREATEST POTENTIAL EXPOSURE [3 records]

Record 1 2017-03-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Environmental Studies and Analyses
  • Toxicology
CONT

A simple exposure tool(SimET) was developed to identify substances on the DSL [Domestic Substances List] considered to represent GPE [greatest potential for exposure]. This approach was based on three lines of evidence : 1) quantity in commerce in Canada; 2) number of companies involved in commercial activities in Canada; and 3) the consideration by experts of the potential for human exposure based on various use codes.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Environmental Studies and Analyses
  • Toxicology
CONT

In order to efficiently identify substances that represent the highest priorities for screening assessment from a human health perspective, Health Canada developed and applied a Simple Exposure Tool(SimET) to the DSL [Domestic Substances List] to identify those substances that meet the criteria for GPE [greatest potential for exposure], Intermediate Potential for Exposure(IPE) or Low Potential for Exposure(LPE)...

OBS

low potential for exposure: term used by Environment Canada.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Environmental Studies and Analyses
  • Toxicology
CONT

Greatest Potential for Exposure(GPE) : when assessing human exposure to chemical substances, scientists look at more than persistence and bioaccumulation. Some shorter-lived substances might affect humans just as often as persistent ones.

OBS

greatest potential for exposure : term used by Environment Canada.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Études et analyses environnementales
  • Toxicologie
CONT
