CONT

So named because of their resemblance to cherries, red cherry peppers are deep orange to bright red at maturity. Nearly spherical, slender long stems hold these cherrylike beauties proudly above the foliage of the plant. Ranging from mild to fairly hot, some are quite sweet. They may be small or large and either erect or pendent. Producing smooth rich dark green leaves, this lovely plant is often grown as an ornamental, as well as for its fiery fruit. Cherry peppers are never dried.

CONT

Record 5 2007-04-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Culture of Fruit Trees
CONT

The term "fruit load" is the maximum weight of fruit that the plant can bear. Fruit load depends on a plant's stem size, amount of foliage, and it's root system. When a plant reaches it's fruit load it will stop producing flowers. To increase the yield, pick pods at their largest green form early in the season. Then the plant will continue to flower and set fruit for a longer growing season.

CONT

Fruit load was altered by flower thinning on three- and four-year-old, field-grown apple trees.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Arboriculture fruitière
CONT
