determinate(D) plants are more compact, bushy, and short-lived in nature. They generally have one main growth spurt, reach a certain size, and then yield a single large set of fruit all at once(or during a short period of time). Once a mature determinate plant has produced its main “bumper crop”, the plant will drastically slow down in production or stop growing entirely. Bush tomatoes and bush green beans are prime examples of determinate plants. 1, record 1, English, - determinate%20plant

With the rise in urban population comes a demand for solutions to offset environmental problems caused by urbanization. Green infrastructure(GI) refers to engineered features that provide multi-ecological functions in urban spaces. Soils are a fundamental component of GI, playing key roles in supporting plant growth, infiltration, and biological activities that contribute to maintenance of air and water quality. However, urban soils are often physically, chemically or biologically unsuitable for use in GI features. Constructed technosols(CT), consisting of mixtures of organic and mineral waste, are man-made soils designed to meet specific requirements and have great potential for use in GI. 2, record 2, English, - constructed%20technosol

Record number: 5, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Deoxyribonuclease(DNAse) agar actually has DNA in it. Deoxyribonuclease is an exoenzyme excreted from the cell which will break the DNA down into smaller molecules. There are 2 kinds of DNAse agar that can be used. 1) The first medium has no indicator, but is does require HCl(hydrochloric acid) reagent to be added after growth has occurred on the plate. Without DNAse enzyme, the HCl precipitates out the undestroyed DNA. The rest of the agar with the remaining DNA, which binds to HCl will have turned cloudy. Around the growth area, if the bacterium has made DNAse and destroyed the DNA, there will be clear zones seen. 2) DNAse agar with the indicator methyl green can be used. In this medium, when the DNA in the medium is hydrolyzed by the bacterial DNAse enzyme, the pieces of cut DNA release from binding to methyl green, and you will see a yellowish/orange zone around the growth area. OBJECTIVE : To identify the presence of the DNAse enzyme. 3, record 5, English, - deoxyribonucleic%20acid%20agar

Symptoms : All aboveground plant parts may be affected. Large, light green leaf spots develop on the upper leaf surfaces. Under moist conditions, a white to gray moldy appears on the lower or upper leaf surfaces. Affected leaves may wilt, then die. If environmental conditions become unfavorable for downy mildew, plants may show recovery by developing healthy leaves, or other pathogens may be encouraged. During fall wet periods, most young petioles or leaves are covered with a fungal growth that often moves into the crown. Crown infections may permit other root-decay organisms to invade the plant. Crown infection causes excessive leaf proliferation which in turn causes misshapen bulbs. 5, record 7, English, - sugar%20beet%20downy%20mildew

The premise of a global policy for the protection of vast areas went into application with the implementation of the ZNE "Zones naturelles d’équilibre"(Natural balance zones) policy as stated on 1975. This policy was based on the principles defined in the Green Book experiment for the Versailles Plain. On the regional scale, these ZNE play an important role in fostering a policy for enhancing open spaces between and around New Towns, with an aim to maintaining the discontinuous organisation of urban growth as called for in successive Master Plans. The plans prescribe regulatory action leading to a strict control of urban expansion, and action inciting the valorisation of different uses of the space. 1, record 12, English, - natural%20balance%20zone

Winds blowing southward along the west coast of the United States--because of friction and the effects of Earth's rotation--cause the surface layer of the ocean to move away from the coast. As the surface water moves offshore, cold, nutrient-rich water upwells from below to replace it. This upwelling fuels the growth of marine phytoplankton which, along with larger seaweeds, in turn nourish the incredible diversity of creatures found along the northern and central California coast. Sensors such as SeaWiFS can "see" the effects of this upwelling-related productivity because the chlorophyll-bearing phytoplankton reflect predominantly green light back into space as opposed to the water itself which reflects predominantly blue wavelengths back to space. 4, record 14, English, - sea%2Dviewing%20wide%20field%2Dof%2Dview%20sensor
