GREEN SIGNAL [14 records]

Record 1 2017-05-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Remote Sensing
DEF

A remote-sensing term referring to the process of assigning different colours to different spectral bands.

CONT

The image processing consisted in generating intensity images and one coherence image. To facilitate their analysis and interpretation, a coloured composition has been created with the results. This composition is obtained by adding the coherence image in red, the average of both images phase intensities in green and the difference between these phase intensities in blue. As such, a high coherence level(value close to 1) appears in red and indicates a very good phase correlation between the two images, a consequence of the various mechanisms of radar signal scattering and of the lack of change which could affect the target. On the contrary, a weak coherence level(value tending to 0) appears in black and indicates a movement in these zones during the 24 hours interval which separated the two image shots. Lastly, the white spots correspond to areas with a strong radar signal backscattering i. e. with zones of hills or vegetation.

CONT

CONT

The most common type of four-aspect signal has four lenses arranged from top to bottom as follows : yellow, green, yellow, red. Modern LED [light-emitting diode] signals with just two lenses can show all four aspects. The lower lens is capable of displaying a red, yellow or green light. Not all lines use four-aspect signalling-three or two aspects are used where the headway and line speed allow.

OBS

In the Betacam color difference format, for example, the luminance (Y) and color difference components (R-Y and B-Y) are derived as follows: Y = 0.3 Red + 0.59 Green + 0.11 Blue; R-Y = 0.7 Red - 0.59 Green - 0.11 Blue; B-Y = 0.89 Blue - 0.59 Green - 0.3 Red

CONT

The Great Western Railway automatic warning system developed circa 1906 is very similar to the British Rail one, the main difference being that is used a contact ramp rather than non-contact magnets. This ramp was located on the approach to the distant signal, and pushed up slightly higher than the level of the rail on a plunger mounted on the engine. If the ramp was energized, that gave the green signal. If the ramp was de-energized, that gave the yellow signal.

DEF

DEF

A high-quality video recording format that separates the luminance (brightness) and chrominance (color) portions of the signal.

CONT

Professional equipment(BetaCAM, Beta SP, D1 and MII) and some consumer equipment(S-VHS and Hi-8) have been designed to record the video components separately. Component video uses several recording methods : standard YUV(Y, R-Y, B-Y) ;RGB(red, green blue) ;and Y/C(luminance and chromiance). The highest quality component video, YUv, divides the signal into three parts : the luminance(Y) ;the red signal minus the luminance(R-Y) ;and the blue signal minus the luminance(B-Y). Using these three signals the green component can be calculated. S-video, or Y/C(used by S-VHS and Hi-8 formats), separates the video signal into two parts : luminance and chrominance.

CONT

In a compatible color encoder... the red(R), green(G), and blue(B) signals are first applied to a matrix, where they are cross-mixed....
