Soil corridors. If there is not room above ground to implement a green corridor, UBC [University of British Columbia] could experiment with underground corridors that connect existing soft landscapes belowground. Assuming space is available below ground, then soil corridors could help conserve soil on campus and also may create more room for tree roots and mycorrhizal fungi to grow.... By proposing soil corridors as a method to increase ecological connectivity on campus, soils are more likely to be conserved if their importance for ecological connectivity and mycorrhizae is recognized and valued. 2, record 1, English, - soil%20corridor

3, record 4, French, - parc%20%C3%A9ponge

To help turn Colonial Williamsburg into a collection of "green garden rooms, "architects used the subtle palette of evergreens, including edging boxwood, tree boxwood, bayberry, native yaupon holly, and the prickly American holly. The variations in their greens and their lusters contribute to the subtle combination of color and texture seen here at the Greenhow Tenement. The encircling green space is one of the most elegant in the city and provides for a very intimate sensory experience... 1, record 14, English, - green%20garden

Dans l'atmosphère et sous nos latitudes (40-50°), ce transport d'énergie se fait principalement via les systèmes dépressionnaires, particulièrement actif en hiver lorsque le déficit énergétique des régions polaires est le plus important. 2, record 19, French, - d%C3%A9ficit%20d%27%C3%A9nergie

The premise of a global policy for the protection of vast areas went into application with the implementation of the ZNE "Zones naturelles d’équilibre"(Natural balance zones) policy as stated on 1975. This policy was based on the principles defined in the Green Book experiment for the Versailles Plain. On the regional scale, these ZNE play an important role in fostering a policy for enhancing open spaces between and around New Towns, with an aim to maintaining the discontinuous organisation of urban growth as called for in successive Master Plans. The plans prescribe regulatory action leading to a strict control of urban expansion, and action inciting the valorisation of different uses of the space. 1, record 21, English, - natural%20balance%20zone

Winds blowing southward along the west coast of the United States--because of friction and the effects of Earth's rotation--cause the surface layer of the ocean to move away from the coast. As the surface water moves offshore, cold, nutrient-rich water upwells from below to replace it. This upwelling fuels the growth of marine phytoplankton which, along with larger seaweeds, in turn nourish the incredible diversity of creatures found along the northern and central California coast. Sensors such as SeaWiFS can "see" the effects of this upwelling-related productivity because the chlorophyll-bearing phytoplankton reflect predominantly green light back into space as opposed to the water itself which reflects predominantly blue wavelengths back to space. 4, record 24, English, - sea%2Dviewing%20wide%20field%2Dof%2Dview%20sensor
