Aquatic weeds can be grouped by the following categories : algae, and emersed, floating, submersed and marginal(shoreline) weeds. Algae are green, stringy mats, sometimes called "pond scum". Algae are primitive plants without leaves, stems or roots. Emersed aquatic weeds generally are rooted in the soil, with part of the plant growing above the water surface.... Floating aquatic weeds are seed-bearing plants that float freely on the surface of the water or have leaves that float on the surface, connected by long stems to roots in the lake bottom. Submersed aquatic weeds are rooted in the soil and the entire plant is under the surface of the water. Some submersed aquatic weeds have flowers that emerge above the water surface. Marginal aquatic weeds can be herbaceous or woody and grow around the margins of the water. Marginal aquatic weeds may grow either in the shallow water or along the banks of the shoreline.

L'assignation de trois bandes spectrales d'une image aux couleurs de base rouge, vert et bleu (RVB) permet de produire une image couleur. La bande spectrale couvrant la longueur d'onde du bleu est souvent affectée par les effets atmosphériques, tels que le brouillard, c'est pourquoi elle est peu utilisée. Yellow Sigatoka. The first symptom of the disease is the appearance of yellow-green specks in the lower surface of the third and fourth youngest open leaf. The specks elongate and expand into clearly visible brown streaks. As the streaks further increase in size, they become elliptical brown spots surrounded by a yellow halo that separate the spot from the normal green leaf tissue. When the spots become fully developed, the central areas turn gray, which eventually are surrounded by dark brown or black margin with yellow halo. The spots group together to form large areas of light brown, dried-up leaf tissues. This leads to premature dying of the leaves.

The most common plant fouling on ships is the brown algae Ectocarpus spp. and the green algae Enteromorpha spp., often referred to as sea grass due to its similar appearance and colour. Polycellular algae begins with the settlement of microscopic spores. These spores can settle in seconds and colonise a submerged surface within hours. Most instruments that orbit the Earth can produce pictures, but an imager is an instrument designed specifically to do that. Typically it has more spatial resolution than other instruments(that is, it can see smaller features on the surface), and it also collects energy in only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Many imagers have channels in red, green, and blue light, which can be used to reconstruct true color imagery of Earth-as a person would see it. Many also have some other channels, which can be used to produce false color images that bring out specific features of interest.

X-ray powder diffraction analysis(XRPD) was proven to be a very powerful tool for the study of "green stone" Neolithic axes and other artifacts. The amount of material to be sampled can be reduced to a few milligrams, thus making it a quasi-non destructive method.... If the dimension of an object is adequate(up to 60 cm in bulk, depending upon the shape) it can be directly analyzed, by XRPD, without sampling. Even a rough, irregular surface, both on flat and bent objects, is suitable for the analysis. The XRPD analysis is, therefore, totally non-destructive and is obviously very adapt to analyze many different materials, such as pigments, stones, ceramics, metals, patinas, salts efflorescences etc.

Winds blowing southward along the west coast of the United States--because of friction and the effects of Earth's rotation--cause the surface layer of the ocean to move away from the coast. As the surface water moves offshore, cold, nutrient-rich water upwells from below to replace it. This upwelling fuels the growth of marine phytoplankton which, along with larger seaweeds, in turn nourish the incredible diversity of creatures found along the northern and central California coast. Sensors such as SeaWiFS can "see" the effects of this upwelling-related productivity because the chlorophyll-bearing phytoplankton reflect predominantly green light back into space as opposed to the water itself which reflects predominantly blue wavelengths back to space.
