In terms of growth in total anthropogenic GHG emissions without Land Use, Land-use Change and Forestry (LULUCF), Canada ranks eighth among the Annex I Parties, with an increase in emissions of 17.4% over the 1990–2010 period, and ranks first among the G8 countries.

Environment Canada today, released its national greenhouse gases inventory report Canada's Greenhouse Gas Inventory : 1997 Emissions and Removals with Trends. Under the terms of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC), Canada must report annually its national inventory data on emissions of greenhouse gases. This new publication provides Canadians with the inventory data and further useful and relevant information on climate change.
