L'ordre de livraison correspond en quelque sorte à une coupure du connaissement correspondant à l'éclatement de la cargaison en plusieurs lots. Remis à l'acheteur d'un lot, il joue à son profit le même rôle qu'un connaissement pour la portion de la cargaison qu'il représente.
