... There, he [Paul Emmett] sought out a better understanding of the mechanisms by which ammonia could be taken out of the air and turned into a fertilizer for plants. Emmett knew that the Germans had developed just such a mechanism during World War I, but scientists did not entirely understand how and why the process worked. The result of this investigation was the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) Method, which remains the second-most cited scientific paper on the process and a technique still in use worldwide. The BET Method provides scientists with the ability to measure a variety of properties of gas molecules on a solid surface : the surface area, the composition of the surface, and the amount of catalyst that is both on the surface and in the interior of the solid. Dr. Emmett's work on the BET Method earned him a Nobel Prize nomination. 1, record 24, English, - Brunauer%26ndash%3BEmmett%26ndash%3BTeller%20method

The animals had to be seized while on the land and in course of the trespass; they could not be followed if they left the land. To justify the seizure there had to be actual damage done. Once seized the animals had to be impounded, i. e. confined in a manor or common pound or in the distrainor's premises and they can then be detained till satisfaction is made for the damage and charges are paid...(Walker, p. 365) 1, record 27, English, - distress%20damage%20feasant

Pour prouver qu'elle optimise la radioprotection, l'Université a fait état de la diminution continue des doses attribuables à la production de l'iode en dépit d'un taux de production constant. A study of a number of roofs in which membrane shrinkage had been observed revealed that movement had taken place at one of two planes : at the membrane-insulation interface or at the insulation-deck interface. In certain cases both appeared to have been involved. Examples of the first type consisted of installations where coated base sheets had been placed dry(without asphalt) over polystyrene insulation without adhering. Movement at the insulation-deck interface resulted from improper attachment of the roofing to the deck because of lack of nailing to wooden decks or inadequate adhesion to most others. 3, record 53, English, - coated%20base%20sheet

2, record 53, French, - feuille%20de%20base%20enduite

Canine Distemper Virus in the Serengeti Lion(Panthera Leo). This paper was sparked off by Dr Thompson, who had received a video taken by Professor Ray Hilborn while in Tanzania, featuring a lion in the ’grand mal' stage of distemper. The unfortunate individual featured in the video was one of about 1, 000 lions struck by an outbreak of the disease on the Serengeti plain, Africa in 1993-94. This paper is basically a collection of abstracts and references about the disease in the lion(Panthera leo), accompanied by background knowledge, and a video showing the spectacular epileptiform fits suffered by this particular lion. It should be noted that distemper fits in other species are very similar. Transfer of goods at sea likewise forms part of the larger subject of enemy character, for the question here also is whether such a transfer divests these goods of their enemy character, and there was likewise no unanimous practice among the maritime States when the Naval Conference met in London in 1908-1909. British and American practice has always refused to recognise a sale after the outbreak of war of goods in transitu if the vessel was captured before the neutral buyer had actually taken possession of the goods. On the other hand, it seems that French practice used to recognise such a sale in transitu provided it could be proved to have been bona fide. 2, record 79, English, - transfer%20in%20transitu
